What is TripSanity?

TripSanity is a group trip planner that turns your itinerary into one shared link. Guests open it in any phone browser — no app download, no accounts to create. It handles the live day-by-day plan, every booking with its confirmation number, the group's flights on the day they fly with live status and delay alerts, checklists anyone on the trip can add to, a shared money ledger that splits costs evenly, by shares or to the dollar and works out who owes whom, an opt-in where-is-everyone map, a shared chat and photo feed that pings the group when someone posts, organizer alerts that reach everyone's phone, what-to-wear tips tied to the forecast, built-in phrasebooks for trips abroad (Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese for Portugal and Brazil, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese), a saved copy that opens with no signal, and a shareable recap when the trip is over. You can try all of it in the live demo, or paste your own plan and see it as a trip, before you sign up for anything. The free plan covers one active trip with unlimited guests, including one AI import; Pro is normally $19 one-time per trip — and free for a limited time.

The problem isn't the plan

You spent six weeks planning. Then you spent the trip explaining it.

So what are we doing after this?

Asked eleven times a day, by four different people, about a document only you have open.

Wait, where did Dad and the boys go?

Twenty minutes of the museum spent on a phone tree instead of the museum.

Nobody told me it would be cold.

A kid in shorts on a windy lakefront, and a reservation you're now late for.

The plan was never the hard part. Getting it out of your head and into everyone else's — that's the part that eats the vacation. TripSanity does that one job, and it does it before you leave.

Shared check-offs

Everyone sees the same day, at the same time.

Each stop is a card: time, address, how long it takes to get there, and what to do when you arrive. Anyone can check a stop off and it syncs to every phone. Add a detour on the fly — the teenagers see it before they ask.

  • Travel hints written for your actual crew, not for tourists
  • One tap to Maps or a ride, no address retyping
  • Leave a note on a stop — the door code, the table number — where the group looks for it
  • An orange glow on whatever changed since you last looked
  • Confetti when the last stop of the day is done
Family finder

Split up on purpose. Find each other in three seconds.

Anyone who turns on sharing shows up as a live pin, and each person picks their own emoji so a seven-year-old can read the map. Opt in per person, only for this trip. Your pin moves only while the trip is open on your phone — close it and the pin stops where you were; tap Pause and it comes off the map.

The zoo becomes doable. So does the airport, the aquarium, and the ballgame where half the group wants hot dogs.

Attire + weather

What to wear, per stop, per forecast.

Tap any stop and get the honest version: slip-on shoes for security, light layers because the arena is arctic, sunscreen at 2pm.

Airport comfy: slip-on shoes for security, light layers — O'Hare AC is arctic, July Chicago is not.

Home base + reservations

The address and the bookings, one tab away.

"Take me home" for any driver, a copy button for the rental address, and every reservation in one list with its status and its confirmation number — tap the number to copy it at the front desk. Picking up the rides? Paste your Uber event voucher or Lyft Pass link once and every guest claims it with one tap.

Flights

Everyone's flights, live, on the day they fly.

Put a flight number on a stop — typing it in the stop's title is enough — and it turns into a boarding pass in that day's plan. Anyone in the group can add their own — the cousins landing at noon, the friend on the late one. On Pro, from two days out each one shows its live status — on time, delayed and by how much, in the air, landed — with the gate and the baggage carousel, and the phones that turned alerts on hear about a delay, a gate change or a landing before the group chat does. Each flight card has a Get delay alerts button, and on an iPhone it shows the Home Screen step first.

No signal

The plan still opens when the bars don't.

Once a phone has opened the trip, it keeps the latest copy. On the plane, in the mountains, out on the boat — the day's plan is still there, and it catches up when you're back in range. Want it in hand? Anyone can save a PDF of the whole trip.

Save a PDF copy

Every day, address and code — opens with no signal, prints clean.

Shared money

Who paid, who owes, and nobody signs up for anything.

Log what things cost as you go — the house, the groceries, the boat — and the settle-up does itself. Same link, same no-account guests, no daily limit on what you log, and it's free on every trip.

  • Split evenly, by shares, or to the exact dollar — and only between the people who were actually there
  • Everyone who joins with their name is already on the list, so "split between everyone" really is everyone
  • Include people who'll never open the link — Grandma still gets paid back
  • Add your Venmo, Cash App or PayPal once — whoever owes you gets a button with the amount already filled in. Zelle too: its button copies where to send
  • Mark it paid and it drops off the list — no more week of "I'll get you back"
  • Typed the wrong amount? Whoever logged it — or the organizer — can edit it or delete it, and the settle-up redoes itself
Shared lists

The grocery run everyone keeps adding to.

Checklists aren't yours alone to write. Anyone on the trip can add an item, fix a typo, or take something off — the beach bag, the Costco run, who's bringing the cooler. Delete the wrong thing and one tap puts it back.

The look

Make it look like your trip, not our app.

Every trip opens in Liquid Glass — frosted panes over your trip's own colors, the look the whole app wears. Or pick another style: clean and modern, a boarding pass, a paper field guide, an after-dark neon, a production call sheet or a kraft postcard — and a color palette. On Pro, put your logo in place of the emoji strip and the group's photo behind the title: you frame it on your phone against the real header, so you crop to the good part instead of hoping the middle of the picture is it — then match the trip's colors to the photo in one tap. The photo and its colors are set right from the trip page (Organizer menu → Header photo), no editor needed. Location data is stripped on the way up.

Seven styles · Liquid Glass by default

Liquid Glass, Soft Modern, Boarding Pass, Field Guide, After Dark, Call Sheet or Postcard — and each guest can switch the style on their own phone.

Trip chat + photos

The photos land in one place, not five group chats.

Anyone on the trip can post a photo to the day they're standing in — same link, still no account. It becomes the trip as it happens instead of six camera rolls nobody ever gets around to sharing.

  • Up to six photos and a caption in one post, from wherever you're standing
  • Grandma back home watches the trip fill in, live
  • Your recap builds itself out of what everyone posted
Alerts

"Leaving in ten" — on every phone.

Send one alert and it lands as a notification on every phone that opted in. Not a text half the group muted in 2019 — a ping on the app that already has the plan. The same bell carries the chat: when someone posts a message or a photo, every other phone with alerts on hears who, and the first line. On an iPhone, alerts arrive once the trip is on the home screen — the trip shows each guest how to add it.

Ask your trip

Every "what time is dinner?" answered without you.

Guests ask the trip instead of asking you. It answers out of your actual itinerary — the time, the address, the reservation status, what to wear.

Going abroad? Eight built-in phrasebooks — Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese — each with 1,000+ phrases to hear out loud or show full-screen to a waiter or driver, even with no signal. The trip picks the right one from where you're going.

Ask your trip

"what time is dinner and how do we get there?"
Pequod's, 5:00 (asking for 6:00). 12 min by ride from the zoo — tap the stop for Maps.

"how do I say the check, please?"
La cuenta, por favor. (lah KWEN-tah, por fah-BOR) — tap to hear it.

Try it right now

Don't take our word for it. Open a trip that's already under way.

The live demo is a real trip page — a family's four days in Chicago, set so today is day two. Check off a stop, read the chat, add an expense and watch the settle-up change. No email, nothing to install, and whatever you add stays on your screen.

It's the same screens your group gets — give it a minute.

How it works

Ten minutes of setup. One link to send.

1

Paste the mess you already have

Google Doc, confirmation emails, notes app fragments, a PDF, a screenshot. Drop it in and TripSanity structures it into days and stops. You edit, you don't retype. Nothing written down yet? Start from one of 21 ready-made itineraries in one tap.

2

Set a family password

Your trip gets a join gate with a word your family already knows. The dog's name works. Only you sign in (with an emailed code) — guests join with your trip link and password, no account.

3

Send the link, then stop narrating

Text it to the group — it shows up as an invitation with the trip's name and dates. It opens in whatever browser they have. Grandma included, teenager included, no help from you.

You are the only person who has to sign in. That is the entire point. Create your tripSee the demo first
The recap

When it's over, they get the story instead of your camera roll.

Every check-off and every feed photo quietly becomes a Wrapped-style recap: miles walked, rides taken, deep dish consumed, the shots everyone actually posted. Tap through it on the flight home. Send it to the grandparents who stayed back.

This is the part families ask for twice.

Pricing

Free for the whole group. Pro is per trip, never per person.

Right now Pro is free for a limited time — every trip gets it automatically, and a trip you start now keeps Pro for good. Nothing to buy.

Free

Pro

Free right now normally $19 once per trip

  • Unlimited AI imports (fair-use limits apply)
  • The AI packing list, built from your days and the forecast
  • What's nearby — the closest groceries, pharmacies and places to eat around your home base

  • The trip doesn't use up your free active-trip slot, so you can plan the next one

Not a subscription and not per person: one price for the trip, whether it's four of you or forty. Guests never pay. See every feature and which plan it's on →

What's an active trip?
One whose last day hasn't passed. It stops counting the day after it ends, or as soon as you archive it (archiving also closes it to guests).
What counts as an AI import?
Each time the AI reads what you pasted or uploaded and hands back a plan — even one you then discard. An import that fails doesn't count.
If I buy Pro, how long does it last?
A Pro trip you buy stays Pro for the life of that trip — it doesn't renew and doesn't expire. And a trip you start while Pro is free keeps Pro for good, too.
Is there a limit on trips?
No cap. Keep as many trips in your account as you like, past and archived ones included. On Free, one trip at a time can be active. Pro trips never count toward that, and there's no limit on how many Pro trips you can have.

The things organizers ask before they trust us with the trip.

Do guests have to download an app or create an account?

No. There is no app store listing on purpose. Your travelers open a link in the browser they already have and they're in.

Can I try TripSanity before I sign up?

Yes, two ways. Open the live demo — a real trip page, set so today is day two, with stops to check off, a chat and a money tab. Or paste your own plan at the top of this page and see it as a trip in about half a minute: your days, stops, flights and confirmation numbers, in the phone. No email and nothing to install either way, and nothing is saved until you choose to save it.

How does family location sharing work — and is it private?

Sharing is opt-in per person and scoped to one trip. Your pin only moves while the trip is open on your phone; close it and updates stop, and your last spot stays on the trip's map, marked with how long ago, for up to 24 hours. Tap Pause and your pin comes off the map right away — the trip's organizer can remove any pin, too.

Can I import an itinerary from an email, doc, or spreadsheet?

Yes. Paste what you have — however unstructured — or hand over the file: Excel workbooks (.xlsx/.xls) whole with every sheet, PDFs, even a screenshot of the confirmation email. Drop in a Google Doc or Sheet link and it reads that too. You get days and stops you can correct in a few minutes, and it asks you about anything genuinely ambiguous instead of guessing. On a phone, the paste box is right on your empty trip page.

Will it make our trip feel over-scheduled?

Opposite. Times are guidance, not a stopwatch: protect the booked things, let the rest breathe. The app says so out loud, on the page.

Can I change the plan mid-trip?

Yes. Edit a stop from your phone and everyone else's picks it up within about a minute. Right on the trip page you can tap Edit on a stop to change its time, place or details, add or delete a stop, press and hold a stop to drag it earlier or later, or move it to another day, and press and hold any card on Trip Info to put the Wi-Fi or the house rules where you want them. Rain plan, later dinner, skipped museum — no group chat archaeology.

Does it work without cell service?

Yes, once a phone has opened the trip. It keeps the latest copy of the plan, so the page still opens with no signal — on the plane, in the mountains, out on the boat — and catches up when you're back in range. Anyone can also save a PDF of the whole trip, with every day, address and code.

Does it track our flights?

Yes. Put a flight number on a stop (typing it in the stop’s title is enough), or let a guest add their own, and from two days out the card shows live status — on time, delayed and by how much, in the air with its landing time, landed — plus the gate and the baggage carousel once the airline publishes them. Phones that turned alerts on hear about a delay of 15 minutes or more, a gate change, take-off, landing or a cancellation. Live status is a Pro feature; a Track link that opens the flight on FlightAware is on every flight, on every plan.

How do organizers sign in?

We email you a six-digit code. No password to invent, no password to forget a year later when you plan the next one. Code didn't come, or a typo in the address? Send a new one, or fix the email, right from the code screen.

How much does TripSanity cost?

The free plan covers one active trip with unlimited guests, and one AI import on that trip — check-offs, weather, the where-is-everyone map, the shared money ledger, the photo feed, alerts and the recap are all included free. Pro is normally $19 one-time per trip (not a subscription), and it's free for a limited time — every trip gets it automatically, and a trip you start now keeps it for good: unlimited AI imports, the AI packing list, your own photo in the trip header, a What's nearby guide to the groceries, convenience stores and restaurants around your home base, your logo in the header, a short custom link, group insights, live flight status with delay alerts, and that trip stops counting against your free active trip, so you can start planning the next one.

Do I have to run the whole trip alone?

No. Add a co-organizer — a spouse, the other family, the best man — and they can edit days, fix times, and send alerts too. Same trip, same link, two sets of hands.

Can we keep it on the home screen?

Yes. Add it from your phone's browser and it gets its own icon with the trip's name under it, then opens straight into the plan instead of a browser tab. Organizers land already signed in, so there's no code to re-enter at the airport.

Does the group get a notification when someone posts?

Yes, on every phone that turned alerts on. Tap the bell on the trip once and that phone gets a ping when someone posts a message or a photo in the chat — who posted and the first line — along with the organizer's alerts and, on Pro trips, flight changes. A post with three photos is one ping, and nobody is pinged by their own post. On an iPhone, alerts arrive once the trip is on the home screen. An organizer who'd rather keep alerts for announcements only can switch chat pings off in the editor.

How many people can join a trip?

There's no guest cap on any plan. Whether it's four of you or a forty-person reunion, everyone joins from the same link, and a guest never hits a paywall.

Who can see our trip?

Only people with both the link and the trip password. When the link is pasted into a text, its preview shows the trip's name and dates and nothing else, trip pages are kept out of search engines, and repeated wrong passwords lock joining for 15 minutes. Change the password and every phone has to join again with the new one. It's a privacy lock for your invited group, not bank-grade security — fine for the rental's door code, not for anything confidential.

What happens to our photos and the plan afterwards?

They stay with the trip for as long as the trip exists — the plan, the chat and the photos are never deleted on a timer (the one thing that expires is a shared location pin, 14 days after its last update). Anyone on the trip can save every photo in one go, or a PDF of the whole plan, and the recap is there to replay. Archiving a trip closes it to guests and keeps it; deleting it removes everything for good.

What if the organizer — or TripSanity — disappears?

The plan isn't locked inside an app. Every phone that has opened the trip keeps the latest copy, and it opens with no signal; anyone on the trip can save a PDF of the whole plan — every day, address and code — and download all the photos, so the group always has its own copy. And a trip with a co-organizer doesn't hang on one person: either of you can edit it and send alerts.

The trip is already good. Be there for it.

Set up your next trip tonight — the reunion, the bachelor weekend, the crew, the retreat. Send one link. Spend the week on the trip instead of in your planning doc.

We'll email you a six-digit sign-in code. Only you sign in; your travelers just get a link.
